Mia was walking going on her weekly shopping spree at the local mall and decided to spoil herself with new clothes yet again. After snapping a picture modeling her new outfit in a nearby mirror she hears someone call out to her. “Hello ma’am,” the voice of the store manager said. Mia turned around, confused about what she wanted before the manager pulled out a brown book. “You’ve been our loyal customer for a long time, Mia, and I think you’ve earned this. Go ahead and take a look at this later and get back to me,” the manager said before handing Mia the book. “What the heck is this? I don’t want to spend my Saturday reading this old book. But I’ll take it anyways.” She said before leaving the store and heading back home.
Back at Mia’s home, her brother Jack was in the living room playing the newest Call of Duty. “Take this you pussy!” he yelled as Mia rolled her eyes in annoyance. She was home from college for the summer and her younger brother was being annoying as usual. After putting her things away, Mia noticed that the book began to glow. “Am I seeing things?” she asked to no one in particular before opening the book. Her eyes went wide as she discovered the contents inside.
“Possession spell?” She laughed to herself before putting the book away. As a joke, she recited the sentence for the spell from the book before having a quick laugh and shortly falling asleep afterwards. While sleeping she suddenly saw her own sleeping body. “What’s going on?!” she shrieked in a panicked tone. Realizing that this must be the possession spell she still heard her brother gaming downstairs. “Maybe I can possess him and get him to turn off that damn game.” Mia, in her current spirit form, went downstairs and felt herself get sucked into her brother.
All of a sudden, Jack’s expression went blank. Mia was in control of his body. “Holy shit! It actually worked!” She said before turning off her brothers console and standing up. All of a sudden, Mia looked down and saw that something was wrong. Jack’s skin was darkening and his feet began to resemble Mia’s own. “Uh oh” Mia thought in Jack’s body as she began to realize what was happening.
“What’s happening?” she asked, looking down. Jack’s body was quickly changing. She ran to the bathroom and stared as Jack’s body quickly changed to perfectly match Mia’s original. A few minutes later, the transformation finished and Mia was fully in control, in both mind and body.
Mia finally walked out of the bathroom, she still couldn’t believe what had happened. Where was her brother? Was he in her body? “Jack? Where are you?” Mia asked as she walked around the house until she walked into her bedroom.
Mia slowly made her way inside, hoping to find Jack somewhere. She saw her old body standing in the middle of the room as it was slowly changing as well. “Mia? What’s happening to me?” her old body asked, the voice slightly resembling Jack’s. It wasn’t long before Mia’s old body transformed into Jack. “What did you do?” Jack asked, walking up to his sister.
“I found this spell, I thought it was bogus. I...I’m sorry Jack.” Mia said. Her and Jack had now essentially switched places! Jack passed out from the shock of this whole situation. Mia went to the spell book and looked desperately for something that could help. “Hmmm lets see here.” She said while rummaging.
An hour passed and Jack finally woke up, believing that everything that just happened was a weird dream. Confused by why he was in his sisters room, he got up to go to the bathroom. On the way he saw a strange light emanating from down the hall. When he began to walk over he realized that it was no weird dream—but reality itself. He saw Mia with the spell book.
“What are you doing, Mia? You already screwed things up once just stay away from that book!” Jack said. Mia ignored his concern and replied, “Don’t worry, I found a spell that I think can fix this.” She chanted a few words and then pointed at herself and then to Jack. All of a sudden Jack fell to the floor and began to writhe in pain. His skin darkened, hair lengthened, new sex inverted, and transformed fully into his sister. ‘Jack’ stood up. “Uh oh, the spell didn’t work. Now I’m in two places at once!” The new Mia said as the original began to panic.
“Nice going, Mia. Now I’m you!” the new Mia said. The original paced back and forth, thinking of a way to solve this current predicament. “You think I knew this would happen?!” the original Mia asked.
“Fuck! Mom gets home in an hour. What are we gonna do?” The new Mia raised her hand and placed it on her temples. All of a sudden, the doorbell rang. “Shit!” The girls said in unison.
The original Mia answered the door as the new Mia ran to hide. She opened the door and saw her current boyfriend, Brad. “Hey babe. You ready for our date?” he asked before giving the original Mia a quick peck on the lips. He walked inside and plopped himself down on the couch.
“Babe, I thought you were gonna come later. I’m...a little busy right now,” the original Mia said, her eyes subtly moving to the new Mia’s hiding spot. Meanwhile, the new Mia watched silently as her sister and her boyfriend talked.
Brad could feel a light breath on the back of his neck. He turned around and saw...Mia?
“What? There are two of you?!” Brad asked as the other Mia looked at the original Mia with concern. “Listen Brad, I screwed up and cast a spell that turned my brother well...into me. I tried reversing it but it just made things worse and my brother thinks he’s me now.” The other Mia placed her hand on her hip in frustration, “Hey for all we know you’re the one who used to be Jack and I’m the original!” she said as she moved towards her sister. Brad, confused by all this, thought he was just imagining things. “This can’t be real. There’s no way,” he thought to himself before storming out of Mia’s house.
When he got back to his house, Brad stared into his bedroom mirror. “I’m imagining things, how can magic be real—“ he said before quickly clutching his gut. He began to feel a burning sensation across his body. He was transforming! Soon, in the place of Brad was another Mia. All of a sudden, his phone turned into Mia’s signature iPhone and got a text from the other Mia. “Did it work? I had to change him before he told anyone else. We need time to figure this out.”
Brad now Mia replied, “Yup, he’s us now. Here’s a picture for proof.”
The original Mia sat disheveled in her room. She had turned her brother and her boyfriend into perfect copies of her and she didn’t know how to turn them back. The second Mia kneeled in front of her and attempted to console the original.
Minutes passed and the third Mia came back to the other’s home. The three attempted to think of ideas but nothing came up. That was until one of the Mias thought of something.
They went downstairs and found the book that started all of this madness. They found an unpossession spell that could turn everything back to normal. The Mia’s closed their eyes and chanted the spell. There was a blinding white light and then...
Mia, Jack, and Brad all sat at the table. “Did it work?” Mia asked. “I think it did,” Jack replied. They all let out a sigh of relief as the spell had worked and they were back in their original bodies.
Mia and Jack’s mother finally came home and they attacked their old woman with hugs. “What’s gotten into you two?” their mother asked. They didn’t respond, they only held onto her tighter. After they broke the hug, Jack went to his room and Brad walked over to Mia. They shared a quick kiss before Brad finally left.
“What happened while I was gone?” Mia’s mother asked. “It’s a long story,” Mia joked. As Brad drove back home, he had a strange lingering at the back of his mind. He had weird memories of growing up as Mia, meeting himself and falling in love. He didn’t think anything of it as he went home.
Life went on after that. Jack went back to playing his video games, a little more quietly this time. Mia and Brad both had to go to different colleges but they decided to remain friends. Mia would never forget that day, neither would Jack or Brad. It felt kind of nice to be in a cute girl’s body.
